OpenAI
GPT OSS 120B marked OpenAI’s return to open-weight language models for the first time since GPT-2. Its Apache 2.0 license allows customization and deployment on your own infrastructure. Unlike OpenAI’s closed reasoning models, it also exposes the full chain of thought.
OpenAI says the quantized 120B version fits on a single GPU with 80 GB of memory. GPT OSS 20B needs less hardware. Both models run locally or through third-party hosts rather than being offered as models in ChatGPT or the OpenAI API.
The index averages rank percentiles from 10 documented comparison cohorts.
