ChatGPT chat-latest is not a fixed model. It is a changing API alias that OpenAI points at the current Instant model in ChatGPT and may update over time. The alias therefore identifies an interface, not a permanently reproducible checkpoint. The current API profile lists text and image input with a 400,000 token context window.

Use a concrete model identifier for stable evaluations, regression tests, or dependable cost calculations. Benchmarks cannot be assigned cleanly to chat-latest because its target may change. That flexibility helps ChatGPT-connected applications, but it is exactly what makes the alias a poor fit for reproducible research.
