Perplexity Sonar Pro extends the Sonar call to a 200K-token context while remaining without a dedicated reasoning mode in the original Chat Completions model. Compared with Sonar, it remains a hosted search-and-answer service.
The API change is the same as for Sonar. Perplexity ended Sonar Chat Completions on September 27, 2026. Synchronous and streaming requests are being reformulated through the Agent API, while asynchronous Sonar requests no longer work there.
