For 4-sec clips: 3-5 actions. For 8-sec: 5-8 actions.

Background Sounds
Describe ambient sounds (optional)

Example: "Only natural ambience: light wind, fabric rustling, street noise"

Sora 2 was OpenAI's second-generation video model. The Sora app closed on April 26, 2026, and the Videos API on September 24, 2026. This page keeps its prompt structure as an example, but the prompts can no longer be used with Sora 2.

According to the official Sora 2 Prompting Guide, style is one of the most powerful factors. It should be at the very beginning of the prompt (e.g. '70s film', 'IMAX', 'documentary style') and determines how the model interprets all other details.

Actions should be described in clear beats, e.g. 'She turns; her dress swings', 'He enters, catches her hand'. Keep each action short and specific. For 4-second clips, 3-5 actions are sufficient.

Choose the appropriate options from the dropdown menus: camera setting (e.g. 'Close-up', 'Slow push-in'), lens (e.g. '35mm', 'Shallow Depth of Field'), lighting (e.g. 'Warm overhead light') and mood (e.g. 'Gentle', 'Whimsical', 'Suspenseful').

The choices show former Sora 2 clip lengths. Since Sora 2 has been discontinued, adapt the duration and prompt to an available video model.
